Circadence’s Laura Lee to Speak at FISSEA 2017

EMPHASIZES GAMIFYING CYBERSECURITY AT EDUCATION AND TRAINING CONFERENCE

Boulder, CO – June 8, 2017  Circadence® Corporation, a market leader in cybersecurity training and education, announced today that Laura Lee, Executive Vice President of Cyber Training and Assessments,
will be speaking at the Federal Information Systems Security Educators’ Association (FISSEA) Conference on Monday, June 19, 2017. The FISSEA Conference serves as a forum for the exchange of information about information security awareness, training, education, and certification responsibilities. For more information on the event, please visit:  FISSEA Conference

What:  The Importance of Gamification for Cybersecurity Team Training and Readiness

Cybersecurity teams predominantly utilize two training methods:  lecture-based learning, or face-to-face, high-fidelity exercises. The relevancy of the content in these settings is fleeting as threats are constantly expanding and evolving – so a cybersecurity professional needs to be in constant attendance in order to stay current, which is unrealistic. Albeit extremely relevant, useful and educational, high-fidelity exercises require significant manpower, time and financial resources to plan, set up and conduct that limit the ability to execute them with any frequency. Laura Lee will discuss how Circadence’s Project Ares solves many of the problems with current training methods by providing cybersecurity teams with a real-time opportunity to practice skills and hone tactics via a training platform designed to appeal to the learning style of the next generation.

Who:  Laura Lee, Executive Vice President of Cyber Training & Assessments

Laura Lee shares her cyber expertise with Circadence’s artificial intelligence advisors in order to build in-game avatars to help instruct players. She is leading Circadence’s team of experienced game designers to create an immersive and engaging cyber platform that embeds real-world cyber rangers in an “Ender’s Game”-like environment. Ms. Lee brings an exceptional record of leadership in the field of cyber exercises and training, previously directing the research and development at Johns Hopkins University/Applied Physics Lab (JHU/APL), prior to joining Circadence. At Johns Hopkins, Ms. Lee developed the first ever Cyber Protection Team Crew Operations Manual for US Military Forces and National Guard Teams. In support of
US CYBERCOMMAND, she led the assessment of cyber teams at large scale cyber exercises and developed team defense strategies for effective roles and techniques against Advance Persistent Threats.

When:  Monday, June 19, 2017 from 2:15pm – 2:45pm EDT

Where:  National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), 100 Bureau Drive, Gaithersburg, MD 20899
